| Because orbital fat grafting is specialized, not readily available, and requires a higher level of expertise than, for instance, standard blepharoplasty or superficial fat injections, surgery fees are increased.
While costs may vary depending upon severity, our most typical fee for bilateral upper or bilateral lower orbital fat grafting is $7,800 (includes surgery, operating room, and supplies). For grafting on only a single upper or lower eyelid, our typical fee is $5,200.
If additional surgery is needed to adjust or augment a result after previous orbital fat grafting within the first twelve months, the fee for that second surgery is reduced by 50%. After twelve months, full fees apply. With severe hollowness, the need for more than one operation is not rare.
To avoid excessive swelling that might compromise grafted fat, we do not perform simultaneous upper and lower orbital fat grafting. If both sets of lids are hollowed, two separate operations are required.
As the effects of even severe orbital hollowness are almost entirely cosmetic, orbital fat grafting is considered an elective procedure not covered by medical insurance. |

If additional eyelid surgery is needed to address a separate problem (for instance, retraction or ptosis), the fee charged for that extra procedure will be our regular full fee.
While the above cost information is typical, we cannot quote exact prices until after a face-to-face or online consultation.
Orbital fat grafting should not be confused with needle injection of liposuctioned fat, a more common procedure not designed for volume augmentation within the socket and deep eyelid.
