More than at any other time since the advent of blepharoplasty, there have recently been rapid advances in both the theory and practice of cosmetic eyelid surgery.
After decades of relative stagnation, older techniques are now coming under closer scrutiny and more refined or entirely new techniques are being introduced by plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, and dermatologists working in concert.
Unfortuantely, that also means that there is more hype now than ever, especially when it comes to so-called non-surgical or minimally-invasive procedures. As a prospective patient trying to gather information on so many options, the task can seem overwhelming.
Some of these new techniques may prove themselves validated, while others (old and new) will eventually be abandoned. Overall, however, the specialty seems to be evolving forward to the benefit of the consumer.
