Blepharoplasty is a relatively safe operation, especially when compared to many more widely invasive facial plastic surgical procedures. Still, surgery is never fully predictable and so there is always an element of risk.

Different patients vary in their responses to the same operation, doctors vary in their preferences and experience, and simple bad luck can always intervene. Even the best surgeons will thus have some patients who suffer unexpected outcomes.

Contrary to what you may read elsewhere, problems following eyelid surgery are not "one-in-a-million" events. However, most complications can be helped. Early minor flaws may improve or disappear entirely over time without special intervention, while more serious imbalances can require surgical revision.
