Problem: All I see is a black screen with a torn picture of a blue Q.
Solution: Your computer is missing the proper plug-in the view QuickTime 7 movies. The player software is free to download and takes just a few minutes to install.
Problem: QuickTime is from Apple Computer but I have a PC.
Solution: QuickTime Player is a cross-platform software program that runs seamlessly on PCs. Be sure to download the Windows version. However, a better choice if you are using a PC is the Windows Media Player version of each movie.
Problem: I have QT installed on my computer but the movies still won't play.
Solution: QuickTime 7.1 or above is required. Older versions will not work. See System Requirements for links.
Problem: My Macintosh does not meet the requirements to download QT 7.1.
Solution: If you are using a Macintosh computer and cannot access Windows Media Player, you will not be able to view the presentations.
Problem: When I try to play a movie, a dialog box comes up instead.
Solution: Microsoft has changed the way Internet Explorer for Windows handles QuickTime movies in a web page. You may need to click approval (for instance, "Accept") on one or more dialog boxes before you can view the movie.
Problem: There is always a short delay before each movie starts.
Solution: This is normal and will vary with your computer and Internet service speed (usually only a matter of seconds with a broadband connection). As the movies have been designed to stream, they do not need to load fully before you begin viewing.
Problem: It takes forever for the movies to load and playback is stop and go.
Solution: Movies are designed for a high-speed Internet connection. With a dial-up connection, they can take 10-30 minutes to load.
Problem: Part of the image is off the edge of the screen.
Solution: Set your screen resolution to 1024 x 768 or higher.
Problem: All I see are the images but without sound.
Solution: Sound and images are transmitted as a single file, which means your computer successfully received the data. Be sure your speakers are plugged in, turned on, and the volume is set to a comfortable level.
Problem: All I see is a black screen when I click on a movie link.
Solution: Internet Explorer for Windows often takes its time when loading the QuickTime plugin. Be patient and the movie will appear in about 20 seconds. This delay will not repeat when loading other movies during the same session.
Problem: Everything above is in order but I'm still having trouble.
Solution: Be sure you are using the most recent version of your browser. Mac users should avoid Internet Explorer (use Safari or Firefox). PC users should use IE 6.0 or later.
Problem: I'm unable to download the movies to my computer for later use.
Solution: The movies are designed for viewing only from our web site.
